Hello!

Thanks for stopping by.

I can help you…

  • Develop and implement a meaningful, practical, place-based cultural strategy

  • Work in collaborative, inclusive and creative ways

  • Fundraise to make great things happen

I have 20 years’ experience of strategy development, leadership, ambitious partnership working and creative programming, gained from working in the arts, museums and heritage sectors, mainly outside of London. I have a strong track record of fundraising from trusts & foundations, major donors, corporates and the public sector. I am a Senior Associate Consultant with FEI and also work independently.

I'm based in Gloucestershire and happy to travel.

Please see below for some examples of my work… and (cringe!) you can read testimonials about me by clicking the link at the top of the page.

I commissioned this film in 2019, whilst at Gloucester Culture Trust. I really love it.

It is a creative response to two years’ worth of public consultation about culture in the city. It beautifully brings to life a raft of surveys, data and research and gives voice to the people of Gloucester in a way that pie charts and reports just can’t.

At GCT, art and creativity were woven through all our work, even things as ‘business-y’ as evaluation or consultation, because we found that far more interesting things happen when you hand the reins to artists.

This is the launch film for Of Earth And Sky, a new artwork by Luke Jerram commissioned in 2020 by the city of Gloucester and produced by Gloucester Culture Trust.

This large scale work is made up of poetry written by the people of Gloucestershire, their words painted in public spaces across the city.

Together, they made a walking trail for people to explore their locality - from urban parks to heritage buildings to wild spaces - to get active, get outdoors and take time to reflect. Over 10 weeks, we estimate that there were 89,000 engagements with it.

As well as its beauty and poignance, at the height of the pandemic, this commission helped drive forward lots of the aims of Gloucester’s cultural strategy:

  • It paired local poets with well-known artists, amateur with professional

  • It mashed up disciplines - it was as much a heritage and physical activity engagement project as an arts commission

  • It only happened because lots of bold, local organisations collaborated and contributed. We had 11 funding partners from the public, private and cultural sector.

  • It happened all over the city, in every neighbourhood, so everyone could take part for free

  • It was ambitious and spectacular

This film discusses Gloucester’s Great Place programme, a £3million project to transform the city through arts and heritage (2017-2021).

Officially, I was the ‘project manager’. But I don’t really like that title because it was very much a collaboration between artists and creative, cultural, community and heritage organisations across the city - ‘connected, enabled and championed’ by me and the team at Gloucester Culture Trust.

It was a particularly special project because it was part of the city’s longer journey and has left a strong legacy of partnership working (not as easy as it sounds!), networks, skills and cultural activity.

Current investments and projects, such as the Jolt creative hub, Rooftop Festival and the High Street Heritage Action Zone could not have happened without the groundwork of Great Place.
